#70 of 100 Reasons to Smile in Stockton, California

Stockton’s Sorelle Winery, located on Highway 88, is a new, beautiful boutique winery that focuses on Italian varietals.  Meaning sisters in Italian, Sorelle is the culmination of the hard work of sisters Kim and Melissa Scott, as well as their father, Mike Scott.  And as one of the region’s newest wineries, Sorelle has already made a name for themselves at the San Francisco Chronicle Wine Competition this past January by taking home both a Gold and Bronze medal.  Besides vineyards, the beautiful grounds of Sorelle also includes the historic Dodge House which was built in 1866.  Check out their wine tasting room hours and enjoy a picnic and some wine at Sorelle Winery!

The Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/San Joaquin has been helping fight hunger in our area since 1968.  As the largest direct provider of packaged emergency food in San Joaquin County, over one thousand people a day are served and almost four million pounds of food are distributed each year.  The Emergency Food Band provides an array of services besides their main and satellite pantries such as nutrition and meal planning classes, mobile farmer’s markets, and health fairs.  And in the midst of our rich San Joaquin Valley, the Food Bank also provides a service to farmers and reclamation distribution centers by taking excess or usable foods that would otherwise be thrown away.  We applaud the Emergency Food Bank of Stockton/San Joaquin and all of their amazing work.
